I’ve always adored the cute little cotton & minky baby blankets I’ve seen on craft blogs and Etsy and decided for my new little one I would make my own. I had two great fabrics I wanted to use- a pink polka dot I’d picked up at a designer fabric boutique on discount and a grey chevron I had picked up a while back at Joann’s, but hadn’t used yet. I decided on a simple heart applique for my first one. Here is how it turned out:
I really love it, and I have the stuff to make more for my shop, but I do think I need a bit more practice first with the minky before I sell any. I had a couple of places where it puckered a little while I was topstitching. I’m planning on making some burp cloths, so maybe that will be just the practice I need. I really liked making this since it was a relatively quick craft (under 1 hour) which is just perfect for a binge crafter like me. I had this whole list of baby crafts I wanted to make before my daughter arrives in January, and I feel like I’m finally starting to get some done!
